The Real Havana

Throughout the years, Cuba' economy has disintegrated. Ever since Castro came to power, communism has been established. This made private businesses and restaurants illegal. Because of this, many people have resorted to making secret businesses and restaurant. If a person lives in Cuba and really enjoys eating in a restaurant, the chances that the restaurant remains in the same location for a long period of time is not great. Whenever there are communism rallies, all the people are forced to go by the government. There, the people are made to say that Cuba is the best. This is because the people understand that if they say any negative comments, they might be imprisoned or even killed. People think that this "phase" will be over in a short amount of time, but will it?

  1. It's called communism. The government controls everyone's assets so that its illegal for anyone to make a living for themselves.

  2. Andrea, this is a perfect analysis of the revolutionary situation in Cuba, for, as you said previously, it is completely disintegrating Cuba's economy and political system as Fidel Castro fights for his all-time motto: Socialismo o Muerte. This is going to eventually end with the "muerte" of his own country and then people all over the world will notice the harm he caused Cuba for internally and externally.

  3. I personally think that it is, frankly, unacceptable what is going on in Cuba. People think that this "special period" will be over shortly, but I don't see what reason they have to believe this. There are no attempts to oust Castro's regime. Unless an internal rebellion occurrs, which I think is very unlikely since there is so much repression, the same government will remain in power.
